Real Madrid had to endure another wild comeback victory in order to secure a place in the final of the Copa del Rey.

Real Madrid headed into the second Leg of the Copa del Rey fixture with Real Sociedad with a 1-0 lead on aggregate. Los Blancos hoped to manage a similar result at the Santiago Bernabéu, but this time it was the visitors who scored first.

Carlo Ancelotti’s side responded very quickly. A stunning counter in the first minute of the half saw Vinicius Jr collect the ball from deep in his half. With a phenomenal outside right foot pass, he found Endrick who was running in behind. The forward deftly lifted the ball over the advancing keeper, increasing Real Madrid’s lead to 2-1 on aggregate. The home side managed to maintain their lead until the 72nd minute when disaster struck and David Alaba scored an own goal.

It looked like a penalty shootout would determine the winner, but Güler had other ideas. He delivered a perfect corner kick for Antonio Rüdiger, who was unmarked. The center back put Real Madrid ahead 5–4 on aggregate with a header in 115 minutes.

Though Los Blancos were far from their best, they managed to advance to their second Copa del Rey final in 3 years. Their opponent will be revealed on April 2 when Barcelona clashes with Atletico Madrid at the Metropolitano. After a thrilling 4-4 draw in the first leg, the two sides are level on aggregate.
