There are details to iron out with only three days left for the 2024-25 NBA regular season. Unlike the Eastern Conference where the playoff picture is close to being finalized, the standings in the Western Conference appear to be chaotic. It is even more peculiar with all teams in the West having two games left to play, there is just one game separating the 4th seeded Denver Nuggets from the 8th seed.
Memphis Grizzlies were sitting on a 47-32 record which placed them in the 6th spot with the Timberwolves trailing a spot behind details on the No. 8 seed.
Thanks to a scorching start to the season from Anthony Edwards where he scored 44 points, the Wolves steamrolled to a 141-125 victory. The Timberwolves improved their record to 47-35 but were not able to claim the No. 7 seed because of the tiebreaker rules in place. Memphis, meanwhile, flipped spots with the Warriors who also sit at 47-35 because of the tiebreaker rules in place for all three teams.
As of Thursday night, Oklahoma City Thunder and Houston Rockets would host the two teams to emerge from the play-in tournament as the conference’s No. 1 and No. 2 seeds. The Lakers would be the No. 3 Seed and face the No. 6 Warriors in the first round. The Denver Nuggets and Los Angeles Clippers would battle it out as the 4th and 5th seeds.
When it comes to the Golden State, Minnesota, and Memphis three-way tie, The Warriors finalize their season with games against the Trail Blazer and Clippers, The Timberwolves go against the Nets and Jazz, and the Grizzlies have games against the Nuggets and Mavericks.
