Chelsea 1-0 Tottenham: Player Ratings as Enzo Fernandez Fires.

Enzo Maresca’s Chelsea continued their good form in the Premier League as they walked away with a London Derby victory over Tottenham Hotspur which helped them reclaim a Champions League spot, winning 1-0.

Chelsea were the dominant team for the first 45 minutes, but lack of execution on the final pass otherwise coupled with a brilliant save from Guglielmo Vicario.

Cole Palmer scored the opening goal for Chelsea and ended his seven game drought for any direct goal involvement by scoring in the 47th minute courtesy of Enzo Fernandez’s header. This goal marked Fernandez’s second Premier League goal this season and his first of the match. Five minutes later, Moises Caicedo almost extended the lead for Chelsea, but the goal was ruled offside.

In the last 30 minutes of the game, both teams were given the opportunity to score. In the 89th minute, Heung-min Son had an astonishing chance to score, only to be denied by Robert Sánchez who made a phenomenal save preventing the home team from conceding in the dying moments of the game. Ultimately, Fernández’s header would go on the winning goal.

Chelsea’s triumph further cements their place in the race for the upcoming season of UEFA Champions League. If Chelsea had lost, they would drop to sixth place in the table. Now, however, they are in fourth position with only eight matches left to play.
