Following a bad clash with Minnesota Timberwolves guard Anthony Edwards, Brooklyn Nets head coach Jordi Fernández came forward to apologize. In the first half of the Wolves’ 105–90 victory over the Nets on Thursday night, Edwards fell to the floor with a sprained ankle after sinking a three-pointer.
Fernández went on to say that after the game, Edwards was both physically assisted off the floor and escorted back to the locker room, only to emerge for the second half.
Fernández further reasoned his side of the story during the post-game interview.
Fernandez told reporters that he was unable to comprehend what was happening at that moment but he felt a kick followed by Edwards spraining her ankle. Edwards, fortunately was not deeply injured.
That night, Edwards achieved a noteworthy feat by scoring 28 points alongside five three-pointers. The Wolves improved their record to 45-32 for the season, and at this point, had the seventh seed in the Western Conference due to tiebreaker situations. They are tied with the Memphis Grizzlies in the standings as Minnesota aims to secure a top-six seed in the remaining five games and sidestep the play in tournament.
