UniFirst and HMS reveals Chase Elliott throwback scheme for Darlington

The 2020 NASCAR Cup Series Champion, Chase Elliott, together with Hendrick Motorsports and long-time sponsorship partner UniFirst, will be paying tribute to Ken Schrader at Darlington Speedway as the team revealed on Tuesday. As part of his seasonal duties, Elliott will drive a specially painted No.9 UniFirst Chevrolet during the Goodyear 400 on April 6th Sunday. The white, green, and gray paint scheme is a tribute to the No. 25 Kodiak Chevrolet that Ken Schrader drove for the 1994 NASCAR in Winston Cup Series season. That season the Fenton, Missouri native logged nine top five finishes and 18 top ten finishes throughout the season.

While driving the Kodiak No. 25 Chevrolet for Hendrick Motorsports, Schrader was ranked fourth in the NASCAR Winston Cup Series point standings, one of three top 5 point finishes Schrader had throughout his career. In the late 1980’s and early 1990’s, Schrader was a staple of Hendrick Motorsports, and he was in the organization’s No. 25 entry from ‘88-‘96 until he moved to Andy Petree Racing in ‘97.

With three top-10 finishes and a single top-five finish thus far, NASCAR’s Most Popular Driver Award winner Elliott, is currently placed sixth in points this season. In the 2025 season, he is still on the hunt for his first victory of the year.

Over a decade now, this native from Dawsonville, Georgia has been with Hendrick Motorsports, which is the most successful franchise in the NASCAR Cup Series and has earned 19 wins during the years. Additionally, Elliott has been on a rough patch in winning, with only a single win in the last 76 attempts throughout the past year, which was last season at Texas Motor Speedway.

Currently driving the number 9 Chevy, Elliott has raced at Darlington Raceway’s and has done better than most drivers, earning four top-five finishes with a personal best of third.

Horschel made a stunning putt to cap off a spectacular Atlanta Drive comeback in the second match of the TGL SoFi Cup Finals on Tuesday night. He experienced a blackout immediately after making a 17’10” downhill putt that gave the Drive lead for good at 4-3 on the 14th hole. What supplied the inspiration for such a fantastic comeback?

With the Drive behind towards the end of the match, Horschel made his way over to speak with one of his biggest fans. That fan happened to be his daughter, who calmed him down by saying they can make a comeback because he is the best in singles.
